1. The Millennium Biltmore

The Millennium Biltmore is one of LA’s most iconic historic hotels—and if it looks familiar, that’s probably because it’s been the set for some pretty iconic scenes. The famous Pretty in Pink prom scene to bar scenes in Mad Men and National Treasure. The Oscars were held here for years, and it even inspired the Hollywood Tower of Terror ride at Disneyland!

2. Bradbury Building 

The Bradbury Building isn’t just an architectural gem and local landmark.. Sci-fi fans will recognize it from Blade Runner, while rom-com lovers will remember it as the spot where Joseph Gordon-Levitt gets a fresh start in 500 Days of Summer. And if you’re in the area, there’s a great little coffee shop inside that’s totally worth a stop.

3. Greystone Mansion

From Kermit’s mansion in The Muppets to Xavier’s school in X-Men and even Chilton in Gilmore Girls, Greystone Mansion has been a go-to filming location for decades. The best part? You can tour the property for free. It’s the perfect spot for a chill, movie-inspired day out.

4. Griffith Observatory

Lately, the Griffith Observatory became the go-to spot for La La Land fans, but as the movie points out,  Rebel Without a Cause made it iconic. Griffith Observatory is one of those rare places that feels cinematic the moment you step onto the grounds. It’s free to visit, the views are unreal, and yeah… it’s pretty much impossible not to hear “Mia & Sebastian’s Theme” in your head while you’re there.

Another standout La La Land location is the Lighthouse Café. In real life, it’s a historic jazz spot in Hermosa Beach, in the movie, it’s where Seb shares his love of jazz with Mia. Parks and Rec fans, you don’t have to travel to Indiana to visit Pawnee. Turns out, Pasadena City Hall is the real-life stand-in for the iconic Pawnee government building. As much as us SoCal locals want to gatekeep this gem, Point Dume is too iconic not to share. From the dramatic final scene in Planet of the Apes to the cliffside crash of Tony Stark’s mansion in Iron Man 2, this spot has serious screen cred. It’s been a go-to filming location for over 70 years for movies, TV shows, and music videos—and with those epic ocean views, it’s not hard to see why!

Who’s that girl? It’s you, living your New Girl dreams at the real-life bar from the show. Okay yes, this one’s a given, it’s a studio after all, but we had to include Warner Bros as an honorable mention. While Universal, Sony, and Paramount also film on lots, the Warner Bros Studio Tour gives you a chance to actually step into the worlds of your favorite shows and movies.
